Changing of the Guard in Canada
Tim Bowen and Tyler Turnbull Tapped as New Leaders
Paul Mead to Retire After 22 Years of Service
Toronto, September 24, 2014 – FCB Worldwide CEO Carter Murray announced today the hiring of two new leaders to run Canadian operations.
Tim Bowen is joining FCB Canada as CEO on September 29, 2014. He will lead FCB Montreal, Rivet and Fuel in Canada. Bowen, most recently SVP, chief customer officer of BIMM, is a passionate and strategically driven leader who is committed to fostering and inspiring creativity. He succeeds Paul Mead, who is retiring after 22 years at FCB. Mead has held many roles at FCB during his tenure, including serving as president of European operations and as a member of the global operating team.
Tyler Turnbull will serve as chief executive officer of FCB Toronto and partner with Jon Flannery, who was named chief creative officer of that office in July. Turnbull, who starts October 6, joins FCB from Proximity in Canada, where he served as president.
“I am grateful for Paul’s many contributions to the network and wish him all the best in his next chapter,” said Murray. “In the talent business in which we are in, I am thrilled to have leaders like Tim and Tyler join the FCB team in their respective roles. They have the talent, drive, people skills, business acumen, creativity and digital fluency that any agency would want. They are also both incredibly likeable, good people who will help us retain and attract the best talent in the market.”
Before BIMM, Bowen spent nine years with Cossette Communications, where he worked with clients including McDonald’s, P&G, General Mills/Pillsbury and Coca-Cola. “I’m excited to be a part of such a dynamic collection of agencies,” said Bowen. “Opportunities abound.”
Turnbull, named to Marketing magazine’s 30-under-30 list in 2012, began his career at Publicis in Canada in May of 2006 and remained with the agency for six years. During his tenure, he served as an account coordinator, account executive and digital strategist. He then moved to London to serve as planning director and joint head of planning for Publicis Modem London.
“Joining forces with CCO Jon Flannery to grow an agency with a great heritage in new and innovative ways is a thrilling next adventure for me,” said Turnbull. “Our focus will continue to be on generating world-class creative ideas that move our brands forward.”
